GSC hosted their first annual “House Party” school dance. Modeled after the “Fighting Falcon” dance, “House Party” was held Friday, January 19th after a boys basketball game at home against Oak Park. The dance started at 9:00 p.m. and lasted until 11:00 p.m. Students were encouraged to wear casual clothing and were also given the chance to create the playlist for the dance through a google form prior to the event. Wristbands were $5 and all of the proceeds went to the chosen charity for Groves 2018 Charity Week, NAMI. The dance raised over $1200 for the charity. Even though we had lost the basketball game sophomore, Nolan Kamoo, exclaimed, "I can't wait for this dance to happen next year!" We too hope to see this event next year and for many years to come.
The Groves House Party Committee (Kailynn Brown, 12th grade, Kyla Hurns, 10th grade, Samiyah Wright, 12th grade, London McMurray, 12th grade, Lauren Palmer, 12th grade, and Morgan Henderson, 11th grade) posing after a successful first dance.
The decorations of the "House Party". The decorations were of a multitude of color and really made students feel as if they were at an actual house party.
