The Detroit Zoo Comes Alive on Winter Nights
If you are looking for something new and exciting, The Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo may be just the place for you. Many people don’t know the zoo is open in the winter. I went to Wild Lights for the last two years now and I love going. It really is something special. Every time I go, I feel like I am in a fairy snow ball. There are over 500 million twinkling lights and 267 lit animal sculptures including polar bears, deer, moose and others. This would be a great place to bring your date, friends and family. This event is appropriate and entertaining for all ages. People usually spend two to three hours at this event, according to the Detroit Zoo website. In addition to the walk through winter wonderland, you can stop and roast s'mores in the fire pit, skate on glice: a solid polymer material designed for skating using normal metal-bladed ice skates. Skating is an additional seven dollars, but it is a lot of fun and definitely worth the money. Also, there is no time limit for how long you can skate on the rink. You are welcome to bring your own skates or rent a pair for an additional three dollars. If you have a little one with you they can write letters to Santa, enjoy Christmas carols, go see the otter and reptile houses, and so much more! You can even enjoy a special 4D holiday clip they show! You can purchase a package that includes a ticket to the show and the 4D experience that costs $22.00 per person. Children two and under are free. You can purchase these tickets online to make sure that the day you wish to go to is not sold out, or you can purchase your tickets at the door. The only downside is that the animals will not be out at this time for the show, and a lot of the zoo is blocked off for this event. I still loved my experience and would highly recommend you visit! Last year, I went on New Years Eve and had a blast. Pricing depends on the time and day that you go.
