Outerbanks: The Perfect Cure For Quarantine Boredom
Outerbanks, my newest Netflix obsession, has taken the number one trending spot on Netflix within two weeks of its release. With its thrilling and unpredictable plot, OBX is the perfect way to overcome quarantine boredom.
The story takes place in the Outer Banks in North Carolina, where the island is divided between two “tribes”, the Pogues and the Kooks. The Pogues are the poorer side of the island, many working multiple jobs, and living in smaller run down houses. The Pogues, John B, JJ, Pope and Kiara spend their days working multiple jobs, and typically getting themselves into trouble. Whereas the Kooks are the wealthy side of the island, living in mansions, and hosting fancy parties. The Kooks, Sarah, Topper, and Rafe live a lavish life filled with extravagant events, massive homes, and fancy boats. Although close in proximity, the Kooks and the Pogues do not get along. The conflict between the two groups is apparent throughout the entire series, leading to physical fights, and even police involvement. The protagonist in the show, John B, spends the entirety of the series with his friends searching for his father. After finding clues to lead him to believe that his father, who mysteriously disappeared at sea and was never found a year prior, was still alive, John B goes on a wild journey to find him. The Royal Merchant, the boat that John B’s father disappeared trying to find, is the key to not only the mystery behind his father's disappearance, but to four hundred million dollars for him and his friends. With that money, they would no longer be pogues, they could be whatever and whoever they wanted. The task is not easy however. With constant trouble with kooks, child services, and two armed men on the hunt for him, John B has to decide who he can trust, and who will ultimately hurt him in the end.
With its thrilling and unpredictable plot, Outerbanks is the perfect show to cure your quarantine boredom.
Outerbanks, a trending show on Netflix, features two types of people: the Kooks and the Pogues. Kiara, JJ, John B, and Pope are seen in this image searching the Outer Banks for the Royal Merchant, and John B's missing father. These four main characters are inseparable throughout the series.
